Release.....July 2010
Singer/
Songwriter Jay Allan Being recognized in Canadian Country
Music
Jay Allan’s Latest album entitled “the Wrong Direction”, a
collection of 10 classic storytelling songs all penned by
this Ontario born tunesmith has clearly moved his career not
only as a songwriter but as an artist in The Right
Direction.
Jay Allan Set to Perform at Canadian Country Music Week and
Awards in Edmonton Sept. 8-12.
Jay Allan has been selected by the CCMA to perform at the
Songwriter Café Presented by SOCAN
The reviews are in and the Songwriters' Café gets 5 stars
from delegates and fans alike. With a celebrity host, this
3-day event provides an intimate atmosphere, where both
established and non-established, national jury-selected
songwriters take the stage in an acoustic, in-the-round
setting. So much more than just a performance; each song
holds a secret and these songsmiths will share the stories
behind their tunes. This is a ticketed event, and is always
a highlight of Country Music Week.
As an Artist Jay Allan’s First Two Singles (Rumourville &
She’s A Tease) have been released to radio across Canada and
have received substantial airplay. Country Music News
Magazines Larry Delaney Praised Jay Allan’s Songwriting and
gave the album a rave review saying
‘ Allan has an interesting and catchy vocal style, filled
with grit and passion, and is particularly effective on
these blue collar driven songs, all of which he has
composed.” The album’s lead single Rumourville, is a driving
rootsy country effort that deserved more attention than what
it received from radio. The follow up release, She’s A Tease
has a similar feel, with lots of vocal energy. Hopefully it
will fair a little better, now that Jay Allan has served up
a full album to showcase his talents.
As a performer Jay Allan has continued to play many Venues
and Festivals showcasing his talents and most recently
shared the stage with some of Canada’s biggest acts at the
Saugeen Summer Nights Festival in Clifford. Performers
included Johnny Reid, Terri Clark, Doc Walker, George
Canyon, Dean Brody and One More Girl.
Jay will be a part of the Boothill Country Jamboree in July
sharing the stage with Jessie Farrell and George Canyon
among many others. Jay is also playing at this year's
Blenheim Cherry Fest, Dresden Exhibition, Dresden Jamboree
and Bothwell Optifest.

Country Music News...January 2010
Singer/Songwriter Jay Allan is a
relatively new voice out of rural Bothwell Ontario (he has
released a previous album) Allan has an interesting and
catchy vocal style, filled with grit and passion, and is
particularly effective on these blue collar driven songs,
all of which he has composed.
The album’s lead single Rumourville,
is a driving rootsy country effort that deserved more
attention than what it received from radio. The follow up
release, She’s A Tease has a similar feel, with lots
of vocal energy. Hopefully it will fair a little better, now
that Jay Allan has served up a full album to showcase his
talents.
There’s lots more here to spend time
on. S.H.O.P is a tongue in cheek male answer to a
woman’s propensity for ‘shopping’…Jay Allan gives you all
the antidotes (“S”)swear words/smokin’ stogies; while (“H”)
stands for homebrew / hockey games; (“O”) and (“P”) have
similar reasons. Listen also for some strong message songs
in Midnight Run and Winning Streak; with some
nostalgia mixed into tunes like Fishing For Memories
and Crinan Creek. For something a little different
try Hollywood…a rags to riches and fame tale.
The Wrong Direction was produced by Murray Pulver (of Doc
Walker fame), who also contributes his guitar, mandolin and
banjo talents to the project. The album was recorded in
Nashville studios.

PRESS RELEASE
...January 2010
Hot off the release of his first single ‘Rumourville’
country singer/songwriter Jay Allan is about to release
another feel good anthem from his new album 'the Wrong
Direction'
‘She’s a Tease’ is an upbeat number full of lyrical &
instrumental hooks clearly showcasing Jay Allan’s ability to
captivate listeners.
Jay performed at many events this year, including festival
performances with headline acts like the Roadhammer’s, a
songwriter’s showcase with Terry Sumsion and a successful
sold out CD release concert. Jay Allan is clearly an artist
to watch and listen to. His album produced by Murray Pulver
is a collection of 10 classic story telling songs all penned
by this Canadian Tunesmith.
“I am building musical friendships with fans, artists &
industry people everyday” Jay said recently in an interview
on Country 92.9. “The grassroots, building of a long
career is what I am all about. I am a new artist as far as
many people are concerned but I have been paying my dues,
schooling myself in this business & working very hard at my
craft for over 15 years. Rome wasn’t built in a day. It was
built over time from the ground up & I really feel with this
album we are well off the ground.”
Jay has been touring the countryside
visiting many radio stations doing on air performances as
well as getting out to the fans performing at many venues
promoting the record with his charismatic & infectious stage
show. He attended Country music week in Vancouver in
September & was praised by many industry members for his new
album. Great lyrics, & production. The album design &
packaging clearly show that Jay Allan is for real.

Music City .......Thursday,
December 18, 2008
Hello Friends,
It's the most wonderful time of the year. Yes Christmas is,
but this year so much more is wonderful. I just returned
from a trip to Music City Nashville TN. My first trip of
so many more to come I hope. I felt very comfortable there
and the people are so very friendly.
Crystal and I headed down for a long needed vacation and
most importantly to record my newest record entitled 'the
wrong direction' I really feel this is my best work
to date and will actually move my career in the right
direction.
The album was recorded at an absolutely killer studio aptly
named Vibe 56. Anyone interested in recording in Nashville
should definitely check it out. The mood, atmosphere
and staff are totally accommodating. Vibe 56 is an old house
with many great sounding rooms and equipment. A special
thanks to C.J Sorg for the use of this wonderful facility.
'The Wrong Direction" was produced by my good friend and the
most talented cat I know, Murray Pulver.
Murray is a Songwriter, lead guitarist ,and sings back-up
vocals in the multi award winning group Doc Walker. He has
also been a member of other great Canadian bands Crash Test
Dummies , Squeek and Egospank. Murray also recently produced
a few tunes for country newcomer Tara Oram. Be sure to
check out all these great Canadian artists.
Along with producing Murray also played acoustic guitar,
mandolin, banjo and sang harmony vocals. Murray is a great
guy and it was a pleasure to work with him.
I can't wait for the new year and the release of my new
record. I wish everyone a truly merry Christmas and happy
new year. All the best to you and your families. 2009 brings
a new chapter to my music with the album ,radio releases and
a new website please stay tuned for lot's of new stuff,
thanks for all the
support
cheers Jay Allan
